THE DEDICATED STAFF of Countryside are committed to providing exceptional customer service and veterinary care to your pet. Dr. Brian Holub has been practice owner and hospital director since 1985. Countryside began as a one doctor practice with 3 employees in a 1,400 sq. ft. building. It underwent its first major reconstruction in 1989 and expanded to 3,500 sq ft., growing from 2 doctors to 3. It was that renovation that earned us national recognition when we received the runner-up to the Hospital Design of the year award. In 1992 the remaining footprint of the property that we had had shared with a construction company was purchased. We updated and expanded our grooming parlor and created much needed internal office space. Prior to our most recent major reconstruction occurred in 1997. At this time we expanded the facility to 10,100 sq. ft. We updated and expanded our boarding facility and created more internal offices to meet the demand of our growing staff. The hospital today has over 70 employees including 8 veterinarians. In 2007 we expanded once more to 15,000 square feet. Our current facility now houses separate ancillary services and veterinary services front offices as well as a physical therapy room, conference rooms and more.
Countryside has been an AAHA member since 1991, with a 4 year-accredited status. We received the 2000 Hospital of the Year Award, recognizing excellence in veterinary hospitals in relation to services offered, level of care, community service, management, and compassion for pets and their families. We are committed to providing the finest and most progressive veterinary care for our patients coupled with compassion and excellence in customer service.
Countryside continues to invest in it's facility and equipment to offer cutting edge technologies. We also invest strongly in continuing education for our entire staff. With our newest expansion underway, Dr. Brian Holub, and Dr. Jacqueline Jacobs completed all course work for CCRP (Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practictioners) training at the University of Tennesee to become canine rehabilitation providers, as they will be instrumental in the implementation of our new water treadmill system, NMES (Neuro Muscular Electro Stimulator) machine, Therapeutic Ultrasoud machine, and therapeutic laser unit, to be installed during our current expansion. The water treadmill system will be housed in a physical therapy room where Countryside will be at the forefront of offering professional physical therapy treatments to those patients in our area who can greatly benefit from these services, such as senior dogs and those dogs recovering from orthopedic surgery.
CVH is concerned about our community and the world around us. In 2003 CVH started a tradition of walking annually for the MSPCA Walk for Animals in Boston. We offer discounts on veterinary services for those pets adopted from the Methuen MSPCA, or the Lowell Humane Society. And we continue to help the Kitty Angels organization of Tyngsboro Massachusetts. Also, our staff members participate annually in the Council of Chelmsford School's "Community Read-In".
Onsite, we offer tours of our hospital for local scout troops to help them earn their animal care related badges and to teach them about the many job opportunities at veterinary hospitals. When asked, we speak at local schools to provide children with information on proper pet care. In 2005, the hospital staff as a group, donated their own money as well as a hospital matching contribution to the American Red Cross for the Hurricane Katrina Relief efforts. Countryside also works with a local volunteer organization, Chelmsford Cares, to provide free veterinary care and grooming services for Hurricane Katrina pet victims who have been reunited with their owners that are now residing in the Chelmsford area.

Dr. Brian Holub
Dr. Brian Holub is the owner, hospital administrator and a full-time veterinarian of Countryside Veterinary Hospital. He received his Bachelor's of Science in 1979 from the University of Cincinnati, and is a 1983 graduate of the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Holub was a staff veterinarian at Bedford Animal Hospital (in Bedford, NH) and Hudson Animal Hospital (in Hudson, NH), and was also a veterinarian for Benson's Wild Animal Farm, formerly of Hudson N.H. He has been owner and hospital administrator of Countryside Veterinary Hospital since 1985. Stemming from his experience and education, he has adapted many progressive programs into his hospital over the years, including but not limited to the treatment of exotics, ultrasonography, laser surgery, and digital radiography. He is a member of the Veterinary Laser Society.
Among his many special interests, Dr. Holub has incorporated advanced dental surgery into the practice and is a member of the American Veterinary Dental Society. Above and beyond the latest advancements in ultrasound scaling and polishing, he performs restoration, bonding, gingival flap surgery, and endodontics (root canals) to help your pet keep it's perfect smile.
His interest in continuing education extends beyond the boundaries of the hospital. He teaches a course at Tufts College of Veterinary Medicine for two year veterinary students, in "Problem Based Learning". He also lectures to Tufts Veterinary Students on pedigreed cat breeds, on cat coat color genesis, and on heritable diseases of pedigreed cats. He is a yearly speaker at the Tufts Breeder Symposium.
His knowledge of pedigree cats is not by accident, and not only from text books. He has been a breeder of pedigreed American Shorthair Cats for over 10 years, fueling his special interest in pedigree cat medicine, multiple cat environments and feline reproduction. He is currently a medical advisor and grant reviewer for the Winn Feline Foundation, which is anon-profit organization that funds feline medical research.
Having four school age boys of his own, his veterinary knowledge is not exclusively passed onto college students. He enjoys giving hospital tours to numerous children's' groups which include but are not limited to Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Brownies, and Pre-schools. He also attends local school career days.
He cares strongly about his patients, hospital and family. His goal is to provide exceptional customer service and progressive veterinary care to his clientele. |

Dr. Julie Kopser
Dr. Julie Kopser is a graduate of Tufts University in N. Grafton, MA. She performed her internship at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston, and became an integral part of our hospital when she joined our staff in 1994.
She has enhanced our hospital with a passion for her work and her love of learning. Along with her veterinary duties, she is also involved in teaching veterinary students on rotation through our hospital. She has served as a clinical instructor in the ultrasound teaching lab for 3rd year veterinary students. She also furthers her own studies by attending continuing education programs in the fields of cardiology, emergency medicine, surgery and oncology.
Her well rounded education has lead her to become our in-house ultrasound veterinarian. One of the most exciting and rewarding cases that Dr. Kopser has treated was the diagnosis and surgical correction of a heart defect in a 4 month old puppy. A cardiac defect known as persistent ductus arteriosus (PDA) was confirmed on cardiac ultrasound by Dr. Kopser. The puppy was not expected to survive to adulthood without heart surgery. Due to financial limitations, the owners were unable to pursue surgery by a veterinary cardiologist at the university . After consultation with a cardiologist and permission (and blessing) from Dr. Holub, Dr. Kopser offered to correct the defect at Countryside. The procedure was arranged at CVH with a team approach. Anesthesia of the _# _yr puppy was managed by head technician Angela with surgical technician Kathleen. They were assisted by Ben W. and Brad Holub. Dr. Kopser performed the surgery with Dr. Churchill assisting. The little puppy did amazingly well. It was breathtaking to watch the heart react during surgery. After securing the last suture, the heart almost immediately relaxed and slowed it’s beat to a normal rhythm (for the first time since the puppy had been born.) The pup recovered remarkably quickly and began to grow and play like a normal pup. She is now expected to live a normal life.
Her beside manner is impeccable. Though she loves working with patients and their owners on a one on one basis, she admits that surgery is one of her favorite veterinary duties. She is extremely thorough and can be counted on to give her undivided and complete attention to the pet and task at hand. She finds the most interesting surgeries to be those involving trauma, oncology, soft tissue and exotic species.
Even with her busy schedule, she still finds time to speak to students and disadvantaged teens about career paths in veterinary medicine. Has served as a panel member at The Women in Science and Technology Program at First Center in Manchester, N.H. She is also devoted to her town, and the preservation of the environment, and works for the Trials Committee in Hollis, N.H.
In 2001, Dr. Kopser and her husband Matt welcomed the addition of their daughter Naomi from China. Naomi and new greyhound adoptee Buzz have become fast friends, both winning the hearts of whomever they meet in their travels.

She is the director of Countryside Canine Rehabillitation, associated with Countryside Veterinary Hospital, and handles all physical therapy cases for our hospital clientelle and those from outside referrals.
